Thankful Thursday
As I was driving up a mountain last week to a place that I believed the Lord was leading me, I put in an old CD and the tears flowed as I sang along with the beautiful voice of Christy Nockels of Watermark.
She is my absolute favorite singer and I could listen to her for hours and hours. (I hope that in heaven I get to stand somewhere in her vicinity as we worship God together for a thousand years!)
As I was listening, one song in particular took my breath as I heard the words afresh and with new meaning. The song is a prayer – a request to Christ to come in to your home – for Him to invade every inch of your life – to turn it completely inside out and take over.
The song was so meaningful to me at that particular moment because I thought that I was heading to a house that we might invade ourselves and it was the prayer of my heart that Jesus would go before us and prepare the way.

A few days later, knowing that we may not be entering that house ever again, it struck me. What am I waiting for? Am I waiting on something in our lives to change? Am I waiting on a different dwelling? A different address? Why on earth would I wait for anything to change before I would pray and ask God for this blessing?
This is the cry of my heart: That our home would be filled with His mercy. I don’t care if we live in a 5 story mansion or a hut, on a farm or next door to the city dump. If we have His light illuminating our steps, we will have everything.
Jesus – Invade.
Come, come in,
Invade all You see of us.
Any man who would walk Your road is welcomed here
and You’re the only one.Oh Jesus, come and walk the halls of this house.
Tread this place and turn it inside out
With Your mercy…
Jesus, teach us the prayers that open these doors,
Until Your light floods in and illuminates these floors.
And let Your truth be on our steps and in these rooms –
Jesus invade…Reach, reach in
With the hand that heals all our suffering
Conquer all that is not of You
Bring Your spirit through
As we fill these walls with Your praiseJesus, come and walk the halls of this house
Tread this place and turn it inside out
With Your mercy…
Jesus, teach us the prayers that open these doors
Until Your light floods in and illuminates these floors
And let Your truth be on our steps and in these rooms
Jesus invade…I call for angels
I call for mercy
I call for freedom
In the name of Jesus!
In the name of Jesus!
Jesus – I am thankful that you respond to the cry of our hearts. Invade our home and our hearts – We need you more than we need anything else!
