WFMW: “Hookers”
(My sweet Mother-In-Law is having heart palpitations right about now after reading that title. Sorry Nancy! HA!)
Not long ago, Abby and I were at the Merchant Of Shame and I bought a set of wall hooks to organize Abby and Nathan’s “not-dirty-enough-for-the-wash” clothes. We got to the parking lot and as she was helping me unload the bags into the car she hollered, “Don’t forget your hookers, mom!” I laughed out loud (and then looked around to make sure no one had heard her!) but didn’t correct her because she gets so few words “wrong” these days, I kind of enjoy it when she gets words mixed up. When we got home, she brought the hooks into the house and showed them to Bruce and said, “Look Dad! We got some hookers for my room!” He burst out laughing and since that moment, the many hooks around the house have been affectionately referred to as “hookers.”
So on to what works for me. I am in one of my organizational spurts at the moment. (And no, I’m not pregnant… yet. Remember right before Sarah was born, I was nesting like mad and started labeling everything? I love being pregnant just for the organizational factor alone!)
Anyhoo, I am organizing again – especially now that the school year is about to start again and I am gearing up to “officially” start homeschooling Abby.
One of the ways I use space efficiently is the use of wall hooks. They are EVERYWHERE and used for lots of things. When you first come in the door, I have a coat tree that holds diaper bags, backpacks, hats and the wide assortment of baby carriers that I use as well as coats in the winter.

We also have a mirror right next to it that has hooks underneath it. On that we hang our keys and glasses to keep up with those very important items. I will tell you, since we started doing this, I RARELY lose my keys! (Losing my keys used to be a DAILY occurrence. Seriously – it was so bad that when I was in college, my father bought me a key finder remote control. It was a great little gadget until it started going off all by itself while I was driving down the road and wouldn’t shut off. I may or may not have defenstrated it in the vicinity of Cherry Hall. )
I have hooks in our bathroom that hold our towels and bathrobes:

There are hooks in my closet that hold my most recently worn items that are not yet dirty enough to wash:

(Poor Sarah sleeps in a little room with not dirty enough for the wash clothes.)
Bruce’s closet has an over the door organizer thingie with hooks that hold his hats, belts, and pants that are not yet dirty enough for the wash:

Abby has a coat tree (that I found at a yard sale for 50 cents!) that holds her dress up clothes and the new “hookers” hold bathing suits and hats in the summer, backpacks and jackets in the winter.

What about you? Is your house full of hookers? (Oh boy – I can’t wait to see the hits that come through my site meter after this post!)
Happy Wednesday, Y’all!

Oh, my goodness! I bet you’re going to get lots of visitors just stopping by to see what this post is about. LOL Hilarious!
I’m glad I’m not the only one who has hooks for the “not dirty enough to be washed” clothes. I wish my kids would get the concept. With my youngest, if it’s been *tried on* it’s apparently dirty enough to be washed.

This is SO funny! I’ve been needing to make myself a little board with “hookers” to hang the keys on. I’m going to giggle the entire time now!

My eyes really flew open wide when I saw your title. But, hooks are great to use. It is a great way to organize.

What a great idea. Hooks for clothes – not dirty enough for wash! I cannot tell you how many years we have struggled with this issue in our house. It’s truly ridiculous. I’m going to go buy some hooks!

Such a sense of relief… my home is full of “hook”ers. I also loved that someone else acknowledges that some clothes can be worn again and you don’t want to just put them back in the drawer!
In my daughters room we made a large pink pegboard framed in white so my 4 yr. old could hang all of her purses, belts, hair accessories, and whatever else she finds to play with.
