Meat Packing and Horse Petting and Crawfish, Oh My!

Bruce is really wonderful about taking the “big kids” with him as often as he can to go places. He takes his role of father seriously and in keeping with his vision of family work, he includes them as often as possible in what he is doing. (And he’s kind and wonderful about letting baby Sarah and I sleep in.) They went to visit a meat processing facility yesterday to check it out and get information for folks who will be trying our grass fed cattle in the fall.

Today they went out to the farm to feed the cows and then over to a neighboring piece of property where Bruce and Mr. Lynn have been cutting hay. Abby even got to ride in the tractor! (An no picture of that got flickr’d! Oh, For SHAME!!)

He did snap these though:

Playing in the back of the truck (in the shade, of course!)

Interacting with some animals

And then stopped at BackYard Burger on the way home.

They got home and went down for naps later than usual but that ended up being a good thing because we’re planning to be out late tonight at the DRIVE-IN! We’ve been wanting to do this for a while and we think we just might brave it tonight. (If you know anything about us, you know that we DO. NOT. MESS. WITH. BEDTIME!) We’re going to go for broke though, and we’ll be meeting some friends out there later including a couple who makes an annual tradition of celebrating their “annibirthary” (anniversary and birthday) at the drive-in theater. Translation: There will be CAKE!

Let’s hope it’s not a total disaster. The kids are usually in bed before 8:30 (which is when the movie STARTS.) Pictures later, I’m sure!
