I think it was a security blanket for me as a beginning homeschooler, I wasn't sure I could pull it off on my own. In the end, for his K year, we ended up focusing mostly on reading -and a bit of math (we used the Singapore Early Bird K workbook), and of course we always had a pile of picture books from the library - I tried to choose a "sciency" theme every couple of weeks - and we'd read-aloud from the books. It's amazing how much my son learned from our very simple year. Blessings on your homeschooling journey!
